Our Congregation

“For though I am free with respect to all, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I might win more of them”. 1Cor 9: 19)

image As per the scripture, Our Founder Very Rev Fr. G Arul Irudhayam was enlightened and was inspired to make known the love of God by spreading the Good News. He, after ascertaining his charism for “preaching the Gospel” through a Congregation of Sisters of Jesus approached and got the necessary Episcopal permission from the then Archbishop- Bishop of Thanjavur on September 8 1993. The decree of erection of the Congregation was issued on Aug 6, 1993 by His Grace Most Rev. Packiam Arockiyaswamy. Thus the Congregation of Sisters of Jesus came into existence along with me the First Superior General along with five more sisters. The first community of sisters began to sprout, take root and branch out. The Founder was known widely for very many noble and Nobel qualities of heart and mind. Like the beautiful Silicon Bird he attracted the people around him with his magnetic personality enveloped by astuteness and humility. He is also appreciated for his powerful and persuasive talks and eloquent writings. He had authored many books filled with insights of experience in the pastorality. His foresight and planning with wisdom in erecting structures which are inspiring are immortal symbols. They are magnificent architectural beauty today in many places. Our mission today is to continue to walk along the same path well-trodden by our Founder. That is to proclaim the Good News thus to make Jesus the most favored destiny for all. The degree manifested in the paper today has become the living vibrant communities in 39 places in 9 dioceses. The total number of this Congregation is 253 young sisters with vigor and vitality.

Some of our involvement and ministries are :
Planting the gospel in cultures,
Involving in quality education with focused value orientation,
Restoring holistic health care wellness,
Doing social work embracing every one without discrimination of caste and creed.

We continue the command of the Lord in the direction of our founder “to duc in altum.” The seeding in multiple ministries are bearing fruits by our incubating with green lungs in prayer and contemplation.

We do not wait for opportune moments to preach, but create opportunities to get ourselves planted in consonance with the motto of St Paul “preaching the good news." In this ministry our joy and crown are the people whom we serve as St Paul says:

"Whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, my beloved." (Philippians 4:1).

We are Moving forward with enthusiasm and fervor for the Kingdom Building.
